It’s official, TRA Medical Imaging and Medical Imaging Northwest (MINW), two private radiology practices in the Tacoma, Wash., area, completed their merger, operating as TRA-MINW since the first of the year.
The 29 radiologists of TRA-MINW provide more than 1.2 million interpretations annually, serving 11 area hospitals in the CHI Franciscan Health and MultiCare Health Systems, as well as 12 outpatient clinics and other medical clinics.
The links between TRA and MINW date back to the 1040s, when the founding physicians divided into TRA Medical Imaging (1943) and Medical Imaging Northwest (1958). In 2009, the two practices entered into a shared management agreement to deliver standard protocols to MultiCare Health System, which both practices covered.
“Today, we find ourselves reunited under a common vision to support the patients and referring physicians in King, Pierce and Thurston counties,” states an announcement on the practice’s website.
In a prepared statement, Douglas Seiler, MD, radiologist and president of TRA Medical Imaging, said: “The scale of the combined groups allows us to provide expanded subspecialty services across the care continuum to a larger population of patients,” “With that comes the opportunity to standardize care across this region based on best practices and best available evidence, as well as to provide continuity of care across the population we serve.”
Katherine Choi-Chinn, MD, radiologist and executive chair of MINW, added: “Coming together allows us to create security in this shifting health care landscape, to collaborate in support of a shared purpose, and to remain focused on what is most important to us—providing the highest quality patient care in our area.”
